Pupils build air monitor in class act

Tech wizards Caley Holliday, left, Austin Hartas, Louis Pretious, Brody Hewlett, Emanuel Jones and Edward Kriewaldt are all part of Lobethal Lutheran School’s Apollo Club, which is dedicated to problem solving using STEM skills.

With the State’s borders open and Covid-19 cases likely to increase in SA, a team of primary school students from Lobethal aren’t waiting around for help getting their school community ready to deal with the full force of the pandemic.
The school’s Apollo Club members used open source technology – through the online knowledge-sharing platform GitHub – to learn how to design and construct air monitoring units to use in classrooms and other indoor zones.
