Sandergrove church born again

Sandergrove’s Andrew Smith, and wife Livia, received the Alexandrina Council’s Mayoral Award during its annual heritage awards ceremony last month. The Smiths have recently renovated a 154-year-old former church on their property.

Three years ago Sandergrove’s tiny 154-year-old Wesleyan Methodist Church was at risk of “falling over”, but now it stands stronger than ever in Andrew and Livia Smith’s paddock.
Starting in mid-2018 the Smiths, along with local tradespeople, renovated the church, a small stable and the adjacent Tucker family cemetery and, for their effort, received the Alexandrina Council’s Mayoral Award as part of its recent heritage awards ceremony.
