Regardless of who wins the State Election next month, Mt Barker is finally going to have a second freeway interchange at Bald Hills Road.

Speed cameras

The switching on of permanent speed cameras at the Crafers on-ramp and the overpass at Mt Osmond will hopefully act as a deterrent to some of the dangerous driving witnessed by regular commuters.


Lack of funding

The lack of funding commitment from the State Government towards the new freeway interchange is disappointing yet strangely not surprising.


Federal funding

In an election campaign fought largely over national issues it is pleasing to see that local problems such as a much needed second freeway interchange at Mt Barker are still on the agenda.


Freeway priority

It was encouraging last month to see both State and Federal Governments jointly pledging $16m to improve the safety of road users on the freeway.
