Hawks swoop in

The Adelaide Hills Hawks secured all nine premiership points on offer for the day against Mt Barker United at the Hawks Nest in Woodside and kept a clean sheet in all three matches. On a day that honoured the development work of John van der Veeken, it was fitting that Hawks were able to demonstrate their own club depth and development by celebrating their youth along with club stalwart, Nathan Elliott, who played in his 503rd senior game for the club. Elliott played his junior years with Hawks before debuting in the senior competition in 2003, something he jokingly acknowledges was before some of his current team mates were born. The retention of the van der Veeken Cup with a young team captained by a club legend who embodies the Hawks fight, loyalty and spirit was something to celebrate for the Hawks faithful.
